Organization has long sought to promote its global
status as an international organization striving for the
realization of sustainable development for its members of Islamic capitals
and cities, through the support of
its regional and international activities with the
various United Nations agencies as well as regional and
international Organizations as follows:

Agreement
of friendship and cooperation :
The
Organization of Islamic capitals and cities has been
keen to promote mutual international cooperation
relationships, which has drove it to come to friendship and cooperation agreements with the following
institutions and organizations of common interest:
1. Islamic Development Bank (IDB).
2. Arab Towns Organization (ATO).
3. United Nations Center for Human Settlements
(HABITAT).
4. United Towns Organization (UTO).
5. International Union of Local Authorities (IULA).
6. International Association of Metropolis (METROPOLIS).
7. African Towns Union (ATU).
8. Center for Environment and Development for Arab
Region and Europe (CEDARE)
9. International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote
Sensing (ISPRS).
The aforementioned
agreements aim to:

Exchanging
expertise between the Organization 's member capitals
and cities and the aforementioned organizations and
institutions in the domains of
planning and housing, city and public facilities management, the protection of the environment as well as
other important domains that could contribute to the
realization of sustainable development of human
settlements.

Expanding the scope of cooperation and strengthening
the relationships between the aforementioned
institutions on one hand and the Organization's member
capitals and cities.

Facilitating the means of communication and
cooperation between institutions and organizations
concerned with the affairs of human settlements, and the
OICC.

Exchanging visits, experts, and information and
organizing training courses, symposia, and scientific
conferences.

Conducting studies, formulating and implementing
development projects for member capitals and cities.
